"Te Ika-a-Maui" - Maori name for the North Island meaning The Fish of Maui

The North Island has it all. From the hustle and bustle of the big cities of Auckland and Wellington to the serenity and isolation of Tongariro national park and the beautiful and sparsely populated East coast. Rich in Maori heritage and with endless adventure activities it is certain that you will never be bored. You can white water raft down a seven meter waterfall in the morning, roll down a hill in an inflatable ball filled with water (zorbing - great fun!) in the afternoon and learn the Haka at a Maori culture night in the evening, or, alternatively sit in a natural hot spring with a cold beer in your hand - the choice is yours!
