There are a couple of companies who have several/many hostels throughout New Zealand so as a starting point check out some of these links. These hostels as a rule are clean and a fairly standard price, but often fairly generic. Thats not to put you off and as I say thats only a rule. Also knowing what you are going to get can be really nice if you've had a few nights in the wilderness or you've stayed in a really quirky but not too clean hostel the night before!
